US retail giant Amazon, founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos, opened its first hairdressing salon in London, the capital of England. In a statement made by the company, it was stated that customers can try different hair colors using the augmented reality (AR) application before deciding on their style. However, it was stated that Amazon Salon was initially only open to Amazon employees and will go public in the coming weeks.
However, Amazon stated that there are no plans to open other halls and explained that the place is “an experimental space where new products and technologies are exhibited”.
The two-story, 1,500-square-meter Amazon Salon is located on Brushfield Street in London’s Spitalfields. With the Augmented Reality application, it is aimed for customers to be aware of how different hair colors and styles look on them before making a commitment.
PRODUCTS ARE PURCHASED WITHOUT CONTACT WITH QR CODE
On the other hand, Amazon announced that you can get information from the screens on the walls by pointing to the product on the shelves to purchase any product in the customer hall. Visitors will then be able to purchase the product by scanning the QR code under the product. Then the selected product will be delivered to customers’ homes.
Amazon also announced that the air and temperature in the hall will be checked regularly and will provide free face masks and disinfectant to visitors. Within the scope of other Covid-19 measures implemented, customers will be separated by partitions, personnel will disinfect equipment between sections, and only a limited number of people will be present in the hall at the same time.
“We designed this salon for customers to come and experience some of the best technology, hair care products and stylists in the industry,” said John Boumphrey, executive director of Amazon UK.
On the other hand, the services at Amazon Salon are provided by Elena Lavagni, owner of Neville Hair & Beauty in London, and her team of stylists.
